In the 1960s, back when Las Vegas’ Meadows Addition neighborhood was nice, showgirls lived there. They liked to sunbathe au naturel at their apartment pools because they didn’t like tan lines.

That’s the commonly told story of how the Naked City, a community of low-rent apartment buildings and houses in the shadow of the Stratosphere just north of the Las Vegas Strip, got its nickname.

Not a single newspaper reference to Naked City appears in a Las Vegas newspaper before a June 20, 1982, Las Vegas Review-Journal cover story headlined: “’Naked City’ a Las Vegas Battleground.”

The Booster menu includes options designed to alter the starting conditions of a session. Players can guarantee scatter symbols, increase starting multipliers across the entire grid or activate enhanced bonus-hunting conditions. The strategic read is that Nolimit City is packaging multiple entry points into the same high-volatility engine. That gives players, and by extension operators, a variety of ways to engage a single title.

The studio has also carried its side-bet layer into the sequel. The slot also introduces a Side Hustles system, which functions as an optional stake increase tied to specific outcomes. Taken together, the expanded upgrades, buy options, and side bets suggest Nolimit City is refining a repeatable framework across sequels rather than reinventing its approach each release.

For players familiar with the first Duck Hunters, the takeaway is continuity with a raised ceiling. For those tracking Nolimit City’s portfolio, the sequel is evidence of a studio comfortable returning to proven mechanical families and layering additional monetization and volatility on top. That pattern fits the broader direction of a slots market increasingly built around recognizable, iterated math models rather than one-off novelties.

The new Belmont is significantly different than the sprawling venue it replaced. The former 1.25 million-square-foot grandstand, which had become vastly oversized for the contemporary racing crowd, was demolished to make way for a much smaller, modern facility with a focus on hospitality and premium seating.

Friday’s opening was deliberately capped at 6,000 spectators while construction continues. Only the first two levels of the new five-story grandstand are currently open, with the remaining sections scheduled for completion ahead of next year’s meet.

The redevelopment was financed by a $455 million loan from New York State, approved in 2023. State officials have projected the project will generate $155 million in annual economic activity once fully operational, along with around $10 million annually in state and local tax revenue.
